Job Description: The School District of Baraboo has an opening for a 1.0 FTE Director of Communications to begin by October 23, 2023. This position will support the District in the planning and implementation of strategic communications and marketing. This person is responsible for developing public relations plans, media strategies, and integrated communications campaigns with the goal of promoting the School District of Baraboo as a premier institution of learning. The position reports to the Superintendent of schools. You will find the detailed job description linked above in the URL designation.
Qualifications: A bachelor's degree, preferably in public relations, journalism, media, communications or other related fields is required for this position. Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will have three or more years in public relations, media, journalism or communication experience. He/she will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to produce communications of all types, including press releases, blogs, feature stories, media advisories, newsletters, electronic communications, website content, other promotional materials, and grant applications. The individual must be highly organized and detail-oriented and be able to work with nominal direct supervision. Moreover, the successful candidate will have appropriate interpersonal skills, understand the need for teamwork, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. The individual must have knowledge of good grammar, spelling, punctuation and basic math abilities, and demonstrate proficiency in various technology applications.
